We joined Casper Ruud and his team in Palm Desert during the Indian Wells tournament for our latest photoshoot — a glimpse behind the scenes, capturing moments both on and off the court.
We started the day at Bighorn Golf Club in Palm Desert. Casper is known for having a close-knit team, so it wasn’t surprising to see him joined by his family and hitting partner, Joachim. The first half of the day was spent shooting Casper “off-court” in a relaxed setting that reflected his day-to-day, before heading out to the golf course.
We were joined by Norwegian photographer and filmmaker Olav Stubberud, who documented the day. Known for his candid style and portfolio featuring artists such as Kygo, Justin Bieber, and The Chainsmokers, Olav brings a documentary-style approach that was perfect for capturing Casper both on and off the court.
After lunch, we hit the fairway — Casper’s main escape while on tour. From the start, the bets were on between Casper, his father, and Joachim. Golf has become a genuine passion for him (and he’s notably very good at it), so designing a cap that transitions seamlessly onto the course was an important detail in the Off-Court Cap.
We wrapped the day back at Indian Wells, watching Casper compete in the opening night of the tournament in a mixed doubles exhibition match. Sitting alongside his family, they offered insight into his training, routines, and the players on the court.
Working with an athlete like Casper — at the top of his game, yet humble and kind — made for a natural collaboration with Varsity Headwear. We’re proud of this partnership and excited to see where the Off-Court Cap takes you, beyond the game.
